Staying alive
Tactic from MacMark.
This is a general hint for all races and for The Frozen Throne.
Keeping your units alive costs money, but it's worth it:
- You can faster heal than rebuild your units. This lets you creep, harrass and attack much more often.
- It's cheaper than rebuilding those units.
- It makes your enemy angry and gives you a psychological advantage.
- You can only level up a hero that is alive (and has some supporting units).
How to keep my units alive?
- The Frozen Throne features those shops for each race where you can buy healing items. Use them during battle.
- Some heroes have own healing abilities. My favorite is the orcish Shadow Hunter's healing wave.
- Some units can heal other units with spells.
- Use the neutral buildings to buy healing items or items that make your units stronger or faster.
- Always have a scroll of town portal to teleport out of battle before you lose your units. It's not cheap but consider the cost for rebuilding two of your units. See?
Especially for hit and run action this scroll rocks: You have e. g. some forces to kill his main. You move into his base, kill it fast and teleport out as soon as he shows up. - The scroll of speed is excellent for running away escaping from the enemy. Your units move with Warcraft maximum speed.
- Run your near dead units home! This denies your enemy the experience he would gain from killing those units. And you can heal them at home and let them join the next battle. I saw a game, where the winner didn't lose a single unit to enemy fire. The same goes for killing creeps: A good player doesn't lose any units while creeping.
Disclaimer: Caution! Kids, don't try this at home!
